Check out this photo that I took: http://s1279.beta.photobucket.com/user/Richard_Trible/library/US%2089%20south%20of%20Page

The right side of the collapse is the curved line. The left side is at the other end of the formation. You'll note how this lines up with the formation above where I suspect it used to be located.

Part of the road is still attached to that formation. Speaking out of total ignorance, I think what happened is that the formation slipped just a little, causing the tallus collapse below. trailerlordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10003026817518417617noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30940686.post-14929176498136121482013-02-21T14:23:38.841-08:002013-02-21T14:23:38.841-08:00Thanks. Just like SR 87, US 89, experienced a land slide underneath the road.

The underlying petrified forest member of the Chinle formation is pretty weak, and rotational-type landslides are common along these cliffs.Fuzzyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10933232353339078911noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30940686.post-67326587235117943552013-02-20T19:53:41.144-08:002013-02-20T19:53:41.144-08:00Was due from the meteor that pass. Was due from the meteor that pass.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30940686.post-89149762496399921682013-02-20T18:36:33.937-08:002013-02-20T18:36:33.937-08:00this mountain does not the road on its shoulder.this mountain does not the road on its shoulder.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30940686.post-13894777630738592152013-02-20T17:25:34.430-08:002013-02-20T17:25:34.430-08:00People are so mean cant we all just have frybread?...People are so mean cant we all just have frybread???
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30940686.post-65219347516286471482013-02-20T14:01:38.981-08:002013-02-20T14:01:38.981-08:00ha! idiot.ha! idiot.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30940686.post-75626827476874857082013-02-20T11:35:17.212-08:002013-02-20T11:35:17.212-08:00The Chinle Formation is the name of the geologic u...The Chinle Formation is the name of the geologic unit in which the slide occurred.
