Geologic sequestration of CO2 part of Wall St. restrictions on financing coal-fired power plants
The Wall Street Journal reports that the country's biggest investment banks are "imposing new environmental standards that will make it harder for companies to get financing to build coal-fired power plants in the U.S."
One of the factors to be considered in financing new plants will be to "Assess whether the plant design and nearby geology would allow emissions to be captured and stored underground [ie, carbon sequestration]."
AZGS is part of the Southwest Regional Partnership on Carbon Sequestration (SWP) coalition of southwestern states investigating the potential for geologic sequestration of CO2 and we work with the Westcarb coalition that also covers Arizona.
