Most explosive events in the universe


Two University of Arizona researchers will appear in the a segment of the National Geographic Channel’s new, three-part special, “Known Universe” on the most explosive events in the universe

Planetary sciences professor Jay Melosh and Elisabetta Pierazzo, a senior scientist at the Tucson-based Planetary Science Institute will be featured on the show which will air on the National Geographic Channel from 6-9 p.m. Tucson time on Sunday and repeat at the same times on Thursday, Feb. 19.

The pair will discuss what would happen if a 6-mile-diameter asteroid slammed into Earth [right, artist's view of an asteroid about to impact Earth. Credit, Base Productions]
