Geology of the San Pedro River, Aravaipa Creek, and Babocomari River
AZGS this morning released a suite of new geologic maps documenting the extent and ages of Holocene floodplain alluvium along 125 miles of the San Pedro River and its major tributaries in southeastern Arizona. The maps include parts of 37 USGS 7.5' quadrangles at a scale of 1:24,000.
The mapping was done in cooperation with the Arizona Dept. of Water Resources. ADWR used the maps in conjunction with other data, to delineate subflow zones in the watershed in compliance with court-ordered directives.
The maps are compiled onto 6 plates and include a 76-page report. They are downloadable from the AZGS Publications site.
In addition, we compiled all the sheets into a single poster [right] that can be downloaded and printed from the project web page (go to the bottom of the page and click on San Pedro River Geologic Poster.
