Daily Sun and other news outlets are reporting that the Arizona Dept. of Environmental Quality issued three air and one aquifer permits today for 3 uranium mines in northern Arizona being developed by Denison Mines. Denison already operates the Arizona #1 mine in the region.
Neither the ADEQ or Denison web sites have any news on this. The Sun doesn't state the mine names but the 3 with permits filed with ADEQ are Canyon, Pinenut, and EZ mines [

Mining opponents were quick to issue scathing
critiques of the decisions.
Once agiain a nervous knee jerk reaction. Not in my backyard. Not here! You have to mine where the ore is for petes sake. These mines are 40+ miles from grand canyon and the grand canyon itself cuts through uranium ore zones NATURALLY. Where do you propose to get power from? trees? oil? natural gas? coal? bio mass? solar? hydro? wind? The only inexhaustible supply of power in the form of hot air comes from the fearmongers and the left wing "no nothing for any of us we dont want to be self sustaining' crowd. You people just make me ill.
ReplyDeleteIt is in arizonas best interest to mine OUR resources than having to get it from countries who dont like us very much. Cant drill, cant pump, cant mine. You people need to shut up and let the adults manage our resources for a change. My opinion.
