We are about to get started with the second day of the
Arizona Town Hall on Energy, being held at the Grand Canyon. In the background report prepared for us, we were amazed to learn that Arizonans spent $17.6 billion on energy in 2006, including $9.3 billion on gasoline and jet fuel, and $5 billion for electricity. About $12 billion, or 68% of the total expenditures, went out of state to pay for imports of fuels.
