Anti-mining film to run on Tucson tv
Opponents of the proposed Rosemont copper mine south of Tucson launched a multi-media advertising campaign today to promote the airing on local television of a 23-minute anti-mine video funded by the Green Valley agribusiness and real estate development firm Farmer's Investment Co. (FICO).
"Cyanide Beach," about an Italian gold mining property, is scheduled to run on Tucson’s KGUN-9 at 4 p.m. on Oct. 14 and 21. The film's production company said the campaign includes a half-page ad in the Arizona [Tucson] Daily Star, radio promotions, and 40, 15-second television spots on KGUN. Sponsorship of the broadcast is attributed to Save the Scenic Santa Ritas.
It's not clear if the station is broadcasting the video as part of its regular programming or if SSSR is paying to have it aired.
The Arizona Daily Star earlier reported that the film was produced by John Dougherty, "who has been paid by FICO to investigate Rosemont Copper's parent, Augusta Resource Corp."
The film has been shown for free at venues in the Tucson and Phoenix areas since late August.
Thanks for the info. I am looking forward to the program.
ReplyDeleteThe station says it's a paid program, with disclaimers to run before and after.
