Arizona's Mintec mining software has global reach
Tucson-based Mintec last month received the President’s E-Award for Exports at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., the only Arizona company so recognized. Mintec employs over 200 with 100 of those in the Tucson headquarters. The Minesight software package is its premier product, sold to mining companies worldwide.
According to the company, the E-Awards are the highest recognition any U.S. company may receive for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports. The company's announcement noted that "It’s a remarkable success story for a company that started life as a one-room consulting firm in 1970. A then-recent graduate of the Colorado School of Mines, Fred Banfield applied his expertise in mine engineering with his passion for computers to help companies with mine modeling and design. Today, Mintec is a global network of mining professionals providing technology, service, and support in the most complex mining operations in the world. MineSight, the company’s comprehensive modeling and mine planning software platform, offers integrated solutions for exploration, modeling, design, scheduling and production."
Mintec has offices in Hermosillo, Johannesburg, Lima, London, Perth, Santiago, and Vancouver.
