Documentary film will replicate Powell's exploration of Colorado River, Grand Canyon

A television documentary for BBC and Discovery will film a team of adventurers retracing John Wesley Powell's 1869 exploration of the Colorado River and Grand Canyon, using authentic replicas of the same boats used by his expedition.   The filming is scheduled for August.


The boats are being built by the Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building in Washington.  They have posted hundreds of photos showing every step of the construction process.
