Rep. Kirkpatrick calls for permanent ban on new uranium mining near Grand Canyon

U.S. Representative Ann Kirkpatrick (D-AZ, 1st Congressional district) tweeted this morning "Will you help me call for a permanent ban on new uranium mining near the Grand Canyon?"

The link takes you to a re-election campaign website which shows a picture of the Grand Canyon [right] and says "Uranium mining is a real threat to the Grand Canyon. We have to preserve this wonder of the world for future generations. Please sign our petition to protect the Grand Canyon."

How is it a threat when where the uranium is there is no groundwater and the footprint on the surface is about 16 or so acres. More garbage from the left.

I have written Rep. Kirkpatrick numerous times on this issue and never received an answer. I offered to take her on field trips, show her reclaimed mine sites, nothing but total silence. It's obvious her allegiance is to her environmental supporters including The Center for Biological Diversity. Supporting one of the cleanest forms of electrical power generation in order to reduce carbon emissions should be a no brainer. It's a shame that Ann's more concerned about appeasing her right wing supporters than supporting high paying jobs in her own district. This Congresswoman doesn't have a clue as to what the real facts are!
