There truly were some bizarre mineral oddities on display at the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show this year. At right is a shoe encrusted in gypsum from Australia. Scuttlebutt is that it was found in a mine.
One highly popular exhibit was a dining room table [below] seemingly filled with a major feast. However, all of the 'foods' were actually rocks collected since 1949 that look like a wide variety of foodstuffs: bread, potatoes, pie, beans, rolls, roast chicken, and even an ice cream bar.

really, this is awesome!
ReplyDeleteI saw a similar exhibit on display at the Arizona Mine and Mineral Museum in downtown Phoenix a couple of years ago, not sure if they still have it there or not. This one looks very well done! Wow!
