A major global copper producer is projecting the price of copper to be around $8,000 per tonne (about $3.63 per pound) in 2012.
Mineweb.com said Europe's number two copper producer KGHM made the call in an interview earlier this week.
Arizona produces about 2/3 of the copper used in the U.S.
The closing price of copper today was $3.46
