Funfest looking for volunteers

The SME Tucson chapter says volunteers are needed for the 6th Annual Math Science and Technology Funfest (MSTFF) or Funfest as it is usually called. [right, Funfest. Credit, SciEnTek K-12 Foundation]

Funfest is a collaborative effort between Raytheon, SciEnTeK-12, The University of Arizona, IBM, Honeywell, Pima Air & Space Museum, US Expo, local schools, and other partners to show students a real-life perspective of many diverse sciences.

From the Sarsef website: Held at the Tucson Convention Center on November 5th – 7th, 2008 from 9am – 1pm daily. Funfest is exciting, educational and FUN field trip to hundreds of southern Arizona school groups with a focus on getting students and teachers excited about a very diverse set of math and sciences. We already have more than 2000 students and teachers registered each day to attend the Funfest, and we need help to make sure everything runs smoothly!

If you can not sign up to bring an exhibit – you can help by volunteering your time to helping others man booths and workshops. More than 300 professional mathematicians, scientists and engineers make the Funfest possible for Tucson’s student body, along with the generous support of our sponsors.

If you would like to get involved in this fantastic event, please visit our website at www.mathsciencefunfest.org for more information and/or to register to help. Or you can also contact the MSTFF Planning Committee at (520) 794-5858.
