The
Trail of Time ("an interpretive walking timeline trail that focuses on Grand Canyon vistas and rocks to guide visitors to ponder, explore, and understand the magnitude of geologic time and the stories encoded by Grand Canyon rock layers and landscapes") will have its formal opening in conjunction with a
symposium on new approaches to geoscience education in the National Park System, Oct. 13-15.
The 4.56 km long trail is marked every meter to represent a million years in the 4.56 billion year history of the earth. Portal and wayside signs, rock exhibits and viewing tubes are currently being installed along the trail.
