Legislative resolution endorses Rosemont copper project

The pace is slowing for new bills filed in the Arizona Legislature. The only one that caught my attention from this past week is Senate Concurrent Resolution 1043 "supporting the Rosemont copper mine in southern Arizona."

The resolution applauds the economic benefits of the proposed mine, and its conservation and water use reduction plans.

The resolution was introduced by Senators Melvin, Gray, and Griffin and Representatives Gowan and Pratt.

Shameful. Especially for Representative Gowan who represents the people who would be most negatively impacted by the project. For the rest, it is amazing how they feel the need to support something without considering the harm it causes to Southern Arizona. Too bad the people who know the truth can't afford the kind of paid lobbyists Rosemont Copper employs. Fortunately Rosemont Copper won't be able to afford them much longer either.
