Natural gas pipelines in Arizona

Where are the large diameter natural gas pipelines in Arizona?

That was a question we got last night from someone apparently concerned over the gas line rupture and explosion in California.

The map at right is Figure 3 in AZGS Circular #30, "Arizona Has Salt." Interstate pipelines, with diameters of 30-inches are shown by the heavy dark lines, include the two northern El Paso and Transwestern lines through Kingman and Flagstaff and the two southern El Paso lines . The thinner lines are intrastate pipelines. The two crossover lines may be 30 inch also.

The Arizona Corporation Commission Pipeline Safety Division regulates interstate pipelines in Arizona.

Is there a higher resolution map available? I'd like to know exactly where these pipelines are, i.e. near what roads, addresses, etc.

  2. There are some GIS shapefiles with more detail on them but our staff has not had time to convert them into publicly viewable maps.

What is the nearest supply of natural gas to the proposed potash mines near the Petrified Forest National Park?

  6. I am doing research on a pipe line accident in the early 70's on the 30" high pressure line near Seligman, AZ I believe it belongs to El Paso Natural Gas. Can you guide me to any information on this incident? This was a fatality incident and I would think there would be a lot of information somewhere.
