A group of real estate developers opposed to the
Florence Copper Project met with Gov. Brewer's staff and heads of state agencies on Wednesday, to make their case that the in situ mining project would harm the value of their planned housing and commercial developments, according to a story in the
Yellow Sheet (subscription required but a version is
posted online).
The report quotes Matthew Benson in the Governor's office as calling it a listening session, but said Gov. Brewer would not be advocating for the mining project. [
right, "typical injection well," according to Curis Resources. The project would inject a weak acidic solution underground that dissolves the copper and circulates it up recovery wells.]
