New subsidence area found in Holbrook basin

A third land subsidence feature [right, large yellow area south of Interstate.  Credit, ADWR] was recently identified in the Holbrook Basin based on InSAR data from the Arizona Dept. of Water Resources.

The two that were identified a few months ago appear to be related to evaporite karst activity.  The third and new feature in the Obed Meadow area just south of Joseph City appears to be due to declining groundwater conditions in the area, according to Brian Conway, ADWR, in a presentation to the Arizona Land Subsidence Group.
