The President has repeatedly eliminated funding for geothermal R&D in his budgets, but in an about-face the FY09 budget includes $30 million for geothermal, with an emphasis on enhanced/engineered geothermal systems, according to Dave Curtis with AAPG's DC office.
Congress provided about $20 million in FY08 appropriations.
Arizona has substantial low and moderate temperature geothermal resources and at least a few small high-temperature assets.
