The New York Times ran a feature story on the approval of water rights for 80,000 new homes in the Kingman area.
The Times story states, "Preliminary studies by hydrologists for the [housing developers] Mardian Group and for Rhodes Homes have convinced the Arizona Department of Water Resources that there is a 100-year water supply for the developments."
The article is titled, "Arizona Developers Welcome Las Vegas Spillover" and question whether Kingman will simply be a Vegas 'sidekick.'
[right, artists conception of Hoover Dam Bypass, expected to open in 2010, which will link northwest Arizona to the rapidly growing Las Vegas area.]
