We are still unsure if extensive cracks in Van Ness Road in Cochise County are earth fissures or giant dessication cracks, but to residents along the private road, they don't care what it is. They just want it fixed to make the road safe for drivers.
The county however, argues the road is private and not the responsibility of taxpayers to repair. Here's a news report from Tucson's KVOA on the situation.
update 8-27-11: I removed the video because it ran all the time with audio. To view it, go to http://www.kvoa.com/news/cochise-county-residents-trying-to-save-their-roads/#!prettyPhoto/0/
