World mineral depletion map

The new "Atlas of the Real World" uses computer manipulation of maps to represent data in visually arresting displays.

The map at right represents territory sizes as an indication of the annual "mineral depletion" in each.

They define mineral depletion as "the loss of potential future income, at current prices, due to the quantities of minerals currently being extracted."

Small areas on this map may lack minerals or mined out the ones of value.
