John Hickenlooper [right], former oil industry geologist, and current mayor of Denver, now appears poised to run for governor of Colorado. The announcement by Gov. Bill Ritter that he will not run for a second term was followed by an announcement today that Interior Secretary Ken Salazar that he will not run for the open position and will endorse Hickenlooper. Hickenlooper in turn was earlier reported as saying he would not run against Salazar.
