Arizona Governor Jan Brewer today called for more nuclear power in Arizona and supports mining of uranium to fuel them. Her remarks to a business group this morning are being widely reported in the news media, including the statement, ""And I strongly objected to a proposal by the United States Bureau of Land Management to withdraw uranium mining sites on federal lands," referring to the Sec. of Interiors 'segregation' of nearly 1 million acres of public lands, putting them off limits for 2 years to new exploration and claims in anticipation of a possible 20-year moratorium.
She's also reported as supporting the decision by the Arizona Dept. of Environmental Quality to issue its permit for Denison's Arizona #1 uranium mine to begin operation in northern Arizona.
