ADWR will require registered geologist or engineer sign-offs

The Arizona Department of Water Resources will now require a number of report and studies submitted to them to be signed and sealed by a professional geologist or engineer registered in Arizona. The policy change comes after a complaint earlier this year that the department was accepting certain documents from unregistered individuals.

The ADWR announcement today said, "hydrologic, geologic and engineering reports, studies, drawings and maps, specifications, analyses or related data submitted to support the evaluation of applications for various types of Department permits or approvals provided under Arizona Revised Statutes (A.R.S.) Title 45 that qualify as the practice of geology or engineering to be signed and sealed by a professional geologist or qualified professional engineer who is registered in the State of Arizona under the authority of A.R.S. Title 32, Chapter 1."

More details are available at the Hot Topics section of the ADWR website

This is an excellent approach and it would be even better if all senior positions to filled by registered professionals only and all promotions to consider registered professionals only
