In a video posted on the ADOT YouTube channel, Senior Deputy State Engineer Rob Samour says they have found cracks extending a couple of hundred feet downslope from the US89 guard rail indicating that the highway repair and remediation actions will have to cover a much larger area than just the immediate roadway.
The downslope cracks are consistent with AZGS geologists' interpretation
that the road buckling event is the result of a landslide.
