Fastest growth of mining sector jobs in decades
Mining.com reports that the U.S. Labor Dept. figures show that "the country’s mining sector – particularly in the oil and gas sector – added more jobs in 2011 than at any other period since the early 1980s." Part of it is due to the rapid growth in natural gas and oil production from shale units. [Photo credit Asarco]
Bloomberg says "Producing natural gas from shale will support 870,000 U.S. jobs and add $118 billion to economic growth in the next four years," according to a report from IHS Global.
The potential for shale gas in Arizona has not been seriously examined.
